John Palmer

John Palmer is the Head of Options at IEX, where he oversees the growth strategy and product development for IEX’s new options exchange.

Prior to joining IEX, Palmer held numerous leadership positions at Cboe Global Markets, most recently as President of Cboe Digital. In this role he oversaw the development of Cboe’s digital asset trading platforms and services, including Cboe Digital Exchange and Cboe Clear Digital, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) regulated by the CFTC. He also represented Cboe Global Markets on the CFTC’s Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and led the organization through the successful application process and launch for listing, trading, and clearing futures with margin treatment on digital assets.

Previously at Cboe, he held roles leading business and product strategy for Cboe’s Options and Futures businesses, including overseeing several multi-year technical migrations of Futures Exchange (CFE) and Cboe Options (C1) exchanges onto new technology following the acquisition of Bats Global Markets in March of 2017. He also led the design and launch of Global Trading Hours (GTH) for index options.

Before Cboe, he was the Global Head of Product Strategy for CrossTower, where he was responsible for the digital exchange’s product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and competitive positioning. John holds a master’s degree in financial engineering from Kent State University and bachelor’s degree from University of Mount Union.
